Purpose
Restore America’s Estuaries (RAE) aims to foster an environment of communication and scholarship that respects and elevates a diversity of views, identities, backgrounds, and experiences. At our 2022 RAE Coastal & Estuarine Summit, we are committed to ensuring a safe, productive, and welcoming environment where all attendees and Summit affiliates can participate without harassment, discrimination, or violence of any type. This Code of Conduct applies to all Summit participants and all events, including but not limited to, attendees, volunteers, speakers, vendors, exhibitors, contractors, and guests. RAE reserves the right to enforce this Code of Conduct in any manner deemed appropriate. By registering for the Summit, you agree to all the terms listed below.
Expected Behaviors
All participants are expected to contribute to creating a Summit environment that recognizes the inherent worth of every person and group, fosters dignity, understanding, mutual respect, and that embraces diversity. As such, we expect all Summit affiliates to treat each other with respect regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ethnicity, ability, religion, language, professional status, institution, or age. Whether attending in-person or virtually, all attendees are expected to respect the established rules and policies of RAE as well as those of the hotel, venue, speakers, and others.
Unacceptable Behaviors
Certain behaviors are unacceptable. These offending behaviors include harassment, intimidation, discrimination or abuse. Any form of physical and verbal abuse is unacceptable, whether virtually or in person. Harassment will not be tolerated in any form. Harassment includes stalking, bullying, disruption, use of abusive, offensive or degrading language, harassing photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact, sexual imagery and unwelcome sexual advances.
Reporting Unacceptable Behaviors
We ask that participants be aware and mindful of their surroundings and of fellow participants. Please alert RAE staff onsite or via email at conference@estuaries.org if you notice or are subjected to harassment or abuse in any form. If there is an emergency or immediate threat, please contact security or local law enforcement by calling 911.
Consequences
Any report of harassment, intimidation, discrimination or abuse at one of our events, whether in person or virtual, will be addressed immediately. Anyone violating this Code of Conduct will be asked to cease the offending behavior and failure to comply with requests may result in expulsion from the Summit without a refund or other compensation. If the offending behavior is criminal, local law enforcement will be contacted. RAE reserves the right to prohibit any offenders from attending future RAE events.
