Hosted by: Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisana

50 Participants; $55, includes lunch

Since 2000, the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana has engaged over 17,000 volunteers to enhance 4,500 acres of coastal wetlands, including planting over 1 million native plants and restoring over 7,000 feet of oyster reef habitat. Join CRCL’s team for a day of giving back by venturing to the CRCL Oyster Shell Recycling Site in Violet, just 25 minutes south of New Orleans. Here you will get an up close and personal look into CRCL’s Oyster Shell Recycling Program by bagging shell that will be deployed in a future living shoreline project. After getting acquainted with the shell pile, embark by airboat to plant native trees along the Violet Canal in support of wetland reforestation and natural hurricane protection. Get your hands and boots dirty to help restore Louisiana’s coast! Plan for low impact boat ride; light walking on uneven terrain; some heavy lifting (40 lbs). Weather appropriate clothing and closed-toed shoes required. Outing will not take place in severe weather.
